Around half of the adult population have volunteered at least once in the past year.
Women are more likely to volunteer than men, but only slightly more so.
Younger people are just as likely to volunteer as middle aged people.
People with children in their household are more likely to volunteer than those who have no children living with them.
Just over 50% of the people who go to Volunteer Centres are on Jobseekers Allowance or Incapacity Benefit.
About 25% of the people who volunteer in Scotland are involved with a public body, for example their local council or the National Health Service.
