Recruitment of Volunteers

Volunteer Centre East Dunbartonshire aims to encourage everyone within their local community to volunteer and to achieve a positive experience from their volunteering.

We hold different events throughout the year to specifically recruit volunteers as well as operating outreach events and a drop-in service to potential volunteers.

Steps to becoming a volunteer:

  • Attend informal interview with nominated member of the Volunteer Centre
  • Complete a Volunteer Centre Registration Form
  • Consider reason why wanting to volunteer
  • Consider travel, time and family commitments in relation to volunteering
  • Volunteer Centre staff will offer advice and information on a selection of opportunities that are deemed appropriate
  • With our help, you choose the most appropriate volunteering opportunity

Referral Process:

  • We will notify your (named contact) organisation of the person interested
  • You may specify the person we should contact and also the method to contact i.e. by phone or email
  • We ask that you acknowledge the referral within 5 working days
  • If you cannot involve the person within your organisation we would ask that you provide us with a reason i.e. hosting enough volunteers, opportunity now closed etc

Volunteers with Additional Support Needs:

Many volunteers need some additional support as they embark on their new volunteering experience and while we take time to discuss fully all aspects of the volunteering opportunity to ensure its appropriateness we ask that your organisation is as supportive and inclusive as possible.

Volunteers requiring additional support may:

  • Be lacking in confidence
  • Be recovering from mental or physical ill health
  • Have a physical or learning disability
  • Have been unemployed for a considerable time
